Rev. Dr. Ovester Armstrong Jr., hails from Country Club Hills, Illinois (A Chicago South Suburb). He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northern Illinois University, a Master of Divinity and Master of Social Work degree from Loyola University Chicago, and a Doctor of Ministry in Transformational Leadership from Boston University, where his hero Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., also received his Doctorate. His published thesis/dissertation at Boston University was entitled “Unmasking the Black Pastoral Superman: Self-Care for Male Black Pastors Serving the Black Church.” Professionally, Dr. Armstrong is a Licensed Social Worker and faculty at San Jose State University.
Dr. Armstrong volunteers faithfully as a member of Alpha Phi Alpha, Fraternity Incorporated (Kappa Omicron Lambda Chapter- Vallejo, California). He is also a member of the PHA Masons and Eastern Stars of Harmony #88 and Pride of Harmony #144 in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Armstrong is also a member of the NAACP.
Dr. Armstrong has had numerous honors including the Morehouse College Martin Luther King Jr., Board of Preachers Class of 2025.
Dr. Armstrong is an Instructor at the Leadership Institute of Allen Temple (LIAT) Bay Area Academy of Responsible Preaching (BAARP), teaching the class, “Preaching that Reaches the Next Generation.” This is in Partnership with Fuller Theological Seminary.
Dr. Armstrong is married to Stacey Armstrong, who is a Licensed Mental Health Clinician. They are a blended family with four children (Zharia, Rylee, Symone, and Anthony).
Dr. Armstrong’s favorite scripture is Acts 1:8, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” This scripture has motivated Dr. Armstrong throughout the years that he can do anything with the Lord’s HELP.
Dr. Armstrong loves God, loves to serve, and is an advocate in the minority community.
